PRESS RELEASE
São Paulo, September 9, 2021 – As it celebrates one year of the beginning of its activities, EdTech EBAC Online, online school that offers courses in creative arts and technology (design, marketing and programming), is receiving a series A financial support. The $11 million investment comes from Baring Vostok Capital Partners, along with a group of investors.
The deal was also attended by Begin Capital, AngelsDeck and Sergey Solonin, who had already invested US$ 1.5 million in the first round in January 2021.
The school’s founders are Andrey Anishchenko (co-founder of Skillbox online university), Alexander Avramov (co-founder of the British Higher School of Art and Design and Universal University Moscow) and Rafael Steinhauser (recognized high-tech entrepreneur in Brazil, partner of Alpha Capital Acquisition Company).
The business was launched in mid-2020. Currently, more than 20,000 students are enrolled in EBAC Online. The school’s monthly revenue, with 78 training courses, exceeds R$ 6 million per month.
According to the founders, the investment will be aimed at expanding the number of training programs, the quality of the educational experience and expansion to other countries in Latin America. The operation in México has already began two weeks ago.
“Online education will become predominant in qualification, requalification and in the increase of professional qualification, because it is more efficient and accessible. EBAC Online offers the best education for self-fulfillment and social ascension, providing the professional skills required by the digital age”, says Rafael Steinhauser, President of EBAC Online.
“Our task is to build the No. 1 company in Latin America in the field of continuing professional education. Our dream is to create another Unicorn in Latin America. The region’s population is 600 million people and we see EBAC as a company with revenues exceeding US$ 100 million per year in 5 years”, says Andrey Anishchenko.
“There is a very high demand for training in digital professions in Latin America, so we focus our attention on the areas of IT, design and marketing,” says Alexander Avramov, CEO of EBAC Online. “We combine the expertise of companies in the sector and the experience of successful professionals in the areas of the courses we offer, providing students with quick entry into the specialty and into employment. And judging by the results of EBAC Online throughout the year, our model was very well accepted by the market.”
According to Rafael Steinhauser, the focus is to offer high quality courses for professionals and also for those who want to change their lives. They are people in search of professional qualification, professionals needing to update their digital skills or who want to change their trajectory to work in the digital economy. “We offer an opportunity to improve self-fulfillment and social ascension for many people in this country. We are experiencing a growing demand for technology professionals from all sectors affected by the digital transformation – and we are contributing by training these professionals”.
